I want to thank the thousands of readers who read my article Fly Roundtrip on American Airlines for 9,000 Frequent Flyer Miles. I took advantage of that deal as did many of my readers. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.
9,000 Frequent Flyer Mile Roundtrips Ending February 2nd
Sadly, British Airways Executive Club is changing the pricing structure for flight originating or terminating in the USA. Beginning February 2, 2016, you will no longer be able to fly roundtrip on American Airlines (a codeshare partner of British Airways) for 9,000 Avios miles. The new British Airways Executive Club USA award chart will look like this:
- The coach award that currently costs 4,500 Avios miles each way will cost 7,500 Avios miles (flights 650 miles and under);
- The business class award that currently costs 9,000 Avios miles each way will cost 15,000 Avios miles each way; and
- The first class award that currently cost 18,000 Avios miles each way will cost 30,000 Avios miles each way.
I assume the other British Airways Executive Club tiers in the USA will also suffer the same fate; however, the details of those changes had not been released at press time.
Spend Your AVIOS Miles NOW!!
My suggestion is do your best to redeem your Avios miles on flights in the USA before the February 2, 2016, cut off date.
