Its pretty crazy that even in this day and age of transparency and instantly available information that scumbag businessmen can operate in an open and obvious fashion. They lurk in many areas of business. One particularly brazen group of businessmen are going to try to rip you off when you gas up your next Orlando car rental. Let’s call them the Orlando Airport Gas Pirates.
Pay Attention to Gas Prices The Next Time You Return Your Orlando Car Rental
We have all been there. You’re in a hurry to make your flight and you gas up at the last station you see closest to the airport. Not a good idea if you’re returning at Orlando International Airport. The two closet gas stations to Orlando International Airport on Semoran Boulevard (Florida State Road 436) Suncoast Energys (there is a Wendy’s and a Landing Strip convenience center at this gas station) and Sun Gas (the sign also says Xpress and Airport Valet Parking) charge more than double what the excellent WAWA station a few hundred yards away. Suncoast Energys charges a disgusting $5.96 a gallon. The Suncoast Energys price does not appear on the pump (the actual price is posted incoherently on the side of the station). People don’t find out they have been ripped offed until its too late. Then they come in the Landing Strip store swearing like sailors at the poor clerk behind the counter (I hope they get hazard pay). The other pirate across the street, Sun Gas, charges $4.39 for regular and $4.69 for premium. The Sun Gas prices are inexcusable but at least they are posted at the pump. The close by WAWA station charges a fair and ethical $1.89 a gallon. Kudos to WAWA for not succumbing to the unethical business practices of their neighbors. All gas prices quoted are as of December 19, 2015.
Do Yourself a Favor People–Be Careful When Gassing up Your Orlando Car Rental!!
FYI there are other Orlando gas pirates around. Be careful around the huge Orlando International Premium Outlets on International Drive (at least one gas station charging $5.99 a gallon and in Lake Buena Vista (the gas station on west side of Apopka Vineland near the entrance to I4) normally charges 60 to 70 cents more than its neighbors. Orlando is expensive enough! Don’t make it more expensive than it has to be when you fill up your Orlando rental car.
