I stayed at this fantastic resort for three nights in December 2014. The Villas of Grand Cypress is completely different from every other place I have stayed in Orlando—its small, intimate, laid back, friendly and luxurious. If you want a resort with a super-sized pool and a ton of action—this is not your place. However, if you enjoy great personal service and the luxury life style (the bathrooms here are fantastic!) this is the place for you.
Grand Cypress Golf Club
The Villas of Grand Cypress is the home of the Grand Cypress Golf Club and its 45 holes of Jack Nicklaus signature designed golf. The courses have received numerous awards from Golf World’s Top 50 Resort Courses to Golf Digest’s Top 75 Golf Resorts (twice) to Conde Nast Traveler’s Top 100 Golf Resorts (5 times). They also have a Racquet Club, a very nice pool and upscale dining at Nine18 (which has garners an excellent 4.5 star Tripadvisor review). As an aside, if you are on a golf trip with your buddies check out my Five Great Orlando Nightlife Spots Near Disney World. You can thank me after a great night out on the town.
The Suite Life Just Steps Away From all the Disney Action
The Villas of Grand Cypress is a great place for adults, golfers and families who want to step away from the frenzied Orlando action for a few hours each day (Did I mention that the Villas of Grand Cypress is only about a mile from Downtown Disney). I loved the free soft drinks (and hard drinks) and free newspapers in the small lobby. I also loved the spacious and luxurious rooms. Our 650 sq. ft. Club Suite had a balcony overlooking the golf course.
When they say Villas of Grand Cypress—they mean Villas. The lobby is located in a small administrative building about a half mile up the road from the Villas. After checking in you take a short drive past the beautiful golf courses to the Villa area. We were in Villa 3 which has balconies overlooking the golf course. It was great fun watching fellow golfers swear at their clubs while we kicked back reading the daily newspaper. Kudos to the incredibly nice staff at Villas of Grand Cypress. Every single staff member we encountered went out of their way to say “hello” and offer assistance (each day while walking to the lobby for a newspaper I was offered a golf cart ride). You feel like your living in a small town.
Luxury has Never been this Affordable
But what I really loved was the price. Best deal I could find online for my December 18-21, 2014, visit was $289 a night plus tax. The Traveldealalert.com price was an insane $75 a night including taxes. That’s nuts—even for me. That deal is long gone right now but you can still snag this gem for about $150 a night (including taxes) on Skyauction.com. You will notice that the per night price comes up as “hidden” in the current Skyauction.com listings. Shhh…Don’t tell anybody but that means $99 in this case. Add $49 for taxes and fees, and your staying for about $150 a night. Bingo, bango, bongo…you have a real bargain. Compare that to at least $250 all in on the major travel sites. Traveldealalert.com baby!!!
