Wisconsin Dells Deals—Two Bedroom Condos at Glacier Canyon Lodge from $88 a Night this Summer
The ex-wife and I used to take the kids up to the Wisconsin Dells for the full water park treatment about once a year. We would head to the Great Wolf Lodge or the Wilderness Resort, and the kids would love every minute. The first time we stayed at the Wilderness Resort it was a relatively small hotel with a very cool pool area. Now it’s the largest waterpark hotel in the world. This place is crazy!! And now it’s even crazier with its new neighbor, the Glacier Canyon Lodge (officially Wyndham Vacation Resorts at Glacier Canyon).
This enormous complex houses five indoor water parks: Klondike Kavern, WildWater Dome, Margarita’s Indoor/Outdoor Swim Up Bar, Wild West and Cubby’s Cove. Still not satisfied—how about four outdoor water parks: New Frontier, Lake Wilderness, Lost World and Cubby’s outdoor. The beauty is that your Glacier Canyon Lodge wristband gets you and yours admission to all of them.
Save Money and Get a Nicer Room
I must admit the Wilderness Resort has pretty decent pricing on their website. Summer weekday rooms can be had from $109 a night. Weekend rooms will cost you at least $205 a night during the summer. However, that is for an approximately 400 square foot studio room. You can rent a much larger room for the same money or less at the Glacier Canyon Lodge, the sister property of the Wilderness Resort. Glacier Canyon Lodge has the same awesome water parks as the Wilderness, but it’s a timeshare resort with condo style rooms that are much larger than the hotel rooms next door. There are two tiers of rooms regular and premier. The premier one bedroom condos are 800 square feet (maximum occupancy 4 people), premier two bedrooms are 1,300 square feet (maximum occupancy 10 people) and premier three bedroom have 1,600 square feet of living space (maximum occupancy 16 people). Each has a living room, dining room and a full kitchen. The regular two bedrooms are a slightly smaller 900 square feet (maximum occupancy 7 people) and the three bedrooms 1300 square feet (maximum occupancy 13 people). There are also studios units—but we aren’t going to bother with those because your going big baby!
Save Big Bucks with Glacier Canyon Lodge Timeshare Rental
The great thing about Glacier Canyon Lodge is that it’s a timeshare resort so you can grab these spacious and well-appointed suites for less (usually) than the cost of a hotel room at the Wilderness Resort. The kicker is you will also get a fist full of daily water park passes (generally 6 to 10 passes) for the kids and their guests. The first step is to read my article Eight Rules to Get the Best Timeshare Rental Deals. Then check out the myriad of offers on Ebay and Redweek. The first thing you notice is that pricing is all over the place. From $88 a night for a two bedroom condo with 8 water passes (that one starts 6/7/2015) to $300 a night for the same condo for spring break 2016. From perusing Ebay and Redweek I would say you should expect to pay about $125 to $175 a night for a two bedroom condo and $175 to $250 a night for a three bedroom. For more information on negotiating rates and safely completely a timeshare rental transaction via Redweek and Ebay check out Eight Rules to Get the Best Timeshare Rental Deals. Please note that you can rent at Glacier Canyon Lodge through other sites like VRBO.com and airbnb.com to name just a few; however, my experience is that pricing is better on Ebay and Redweek.
Rules are Rules
Be careful to read all of the rules and regulations before making your purchase. One idiosyncrasy of the Glacier Canyon Lodge is that you can only have one reservation per name during your stay. They do not allow overlapping reservations. Therefore, if you want more than one room you need to put a second room in the name of an adult who will be with you on the vacation. The resort will not allow the same person to check into multiple units. THIS POLICY IS STRICTLY ENFORCED.
I have been to the Wilderness Resort many, many times. It is just a short drive from my favorite ski area in Wisconsin, Cascade Mountain. So you can hit the water parks and the slopes in the same weekend. Just keep in mind that this is a very busy place. The entire Wilderness Resort complex is loaded with families, little kids, big kids, teenagers and many adults who act like kids. We are talking about a loud, boisterous place with plenty of activities for the kids, but maybe not so much R&R for the parents. Just sayin… The kids will have a blast and you will too—but you also may have a little headache at the end of the day. Enjoy!!!
